# Ingest something with no decision taken yet

`POST /api/v1/captures`

MCP tool: `ingest-capture`

Records something that arrived, verbatim, without deciding anything about it. Resending the same `(source, external_id)` resolves to the capture already made. The answer is the capture's id and `triaged_at`.

## Responses

- `200` — `(source, external_id)` already named a capture; this is its id
- `201` — A new capture was ingested
- `400` — The request does not match the operation's schema
- `404` — A project-restricted credential the person did not also give the inbox
